Don't Sweat The Small Stuff

"For without me ye can -- do nothing."

Doctor: "I have good news and bad news."
Patient: "What's the good news?"
Doctor: "You have 24-hours to live."
Patient: "What's the bad news?"
Doctor: “I couldn't reach you yesterday."
     It's easy to complain about your circumstances. It becomes difficult to preserve a positive outlook on life in a world of unemployment, high crime rates, and rising gas prices. Just this past week, I struggled with keeping a positive attitude.
     Several employees' names went missing from our division's database; meaning, no pay. Alright I confess! I deleted the names, accidentally of course. Calls poured in one-by-one; upset over the removal of their names. To make matters worse, two other records appeared in the place of the recovered files. I tried to explain to my boss how the error occurred, but she was not hearing it. What a catastrophe!
      When I think about Jesus dying on the cross and all he endured, my stuff is small compared to the BIG stuff Jesus faced. Jesus did the heavy lifting; all I have to do is live a quiet life, mind my own business, and influence others positively (1 Thes 4:11-12). Are you sweating BIG obstacles in your life? Look, Jesus suffering makes your struggles look like a grain of sand.

Don't sweat the BIG stuff. Pray about it! God is in control…

Understanding It Better By and By

Funny how life has a way of showing you what you’re made of. When adversity hits, what you say you wouldn't do becomes easier to do. When the rubber meets the road, yes! you do the unthinkable. Let's say you have a house fire and on the second floor is your baby and mom. You can only save one, which would it be? I've heard many say they would grab the baby since mom has been around a long time. I couldn't say. I'm not in that situation right now. There's no way to know what to do until tragedy hits. Some can handle atrocities, whereas; other have no clue how to maneuver suffering nor know why hardship occurs. Stop trying to figure out why hardships happens--only the Father knows. He won't have you guessing long. The underlining reason at the end of your trials gives away the mystery. Experiencing hardship isn't fun but you will come out with more insight than ever before....

Trust God

Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight ( NIV ). “Police, Police, a young man stole my bike.” Minutes earlier the gentleman stops at the local store. Thirsty from the summer heat, he decides to get a drink. Dismounting his bike, a kind young man greets him with a smile and offers to watch the bike. Grateful for the offer, the gentleman hands over the bike. He enters the store. On returning, the bike and young man had vanished. The gentleman had a good heart, but he had misplaced trust. Trust in the Lord is paramount (Hebrews 11:6). Life cannot be maneuver through our wisdom, we need the wisdom of the Savior. He alone can handle our life cycle issues. God's Timeout!

Even in the mist of your trials, God provides prosperity and peace. In Jeremiah 29, God told His people that after captivity, after their time-out, He would restore them to Jerusalem. The people’s response was to simply to listen and obey. Such a simple task, yet, not easily done. Are you a doer of God’s word? Does others see God in your actions? Do you see yourself, your actions, and your thoughts when you read God’s word? James talks about looking into God’s mirror and walking away forgetting what you look like (James 1:23-24). Trials are not for you to point the finger at others or to use as a pawn to make idle promises to do better. Trials designed to bring you closer to God, to embrace His love, mercy, and grace. Remember raising your children (if you had any) and after you scold them, they ran to you with tears in their eyes and hug you tightly, a silent plea for forgiveness. When Go...
