Multitasking tires you out.   With so many balls in the air, when do you find time for God? Those balls you juggle are children, spouse, job, church, youth sports, club attendances, shall I go on? Did you forget someone? God gave you those balls you juggle. He didn’t intend for you to replace Him with them. Everything thing comes from God for you to enjoy, but not to neglect Him.   In Bible days, if God didn’t open the womb, women didn’t have children (1 Samuel 1:5). There were no doctors to provide medical advice or procedures to help women have children. God gave the children (1 Samuel 1:20). Likewise, all you own comes from the Master.   There is none like Him (1 Samuel 2:2). He is full of knowledge (1 Samuel 2:3), raises the poor (1 Samuel 2:8), and guards the feet of His faithful (1 Samuel 2:9). So, the next time you have so much going on that you can’t thank God, remember the One who takes care of you.   Remember how healthy you are to juggle all you enjoy. Remember the One w

Freaking Out Vs Faith!

My voicemail symbol on my office phone blinked.  I proceeded to listening to my messages. “Hello Ms. Swanson, this is the Westshore Elementary School Principal.  Please give me a call.”   My heart and mind raced with many things.   Did the boys have an altercation with another student or teacher?  Did someone get hurt? I looked at the clock.  I noticed it was right at 12 O’clock. Food allergy! Do they have their EpiPens? Perhaps they rushed the boys to the hospital. Which hospital?  I regained consciousness and focused on returning the principal's phone call. A pleasant woman answered. No time for niceties lady just tell me what happened . “I’m returning the principal’s call,” I said hurriedly.  “This is Ms. Swanson.” “She’s in a meeting, could I take a message?”  “Yes, have her to call Ms. Swanson.”  Meeting with whom?   My boys?    I was freaking out! I called again three seconds later.  It took that long to redial the number. “Westshore Elementary,” the pleas

Why Now?!

Troubles seems to come an inopportune time. Just when everything is going good, then comes adversity. Isn't it enough that we are doing our best to keep our heads above water? I guess not. That's life. You wake up on top of the world, by noon the world is on top of you. There's no escape from life's hustle and bustle.  Every time we turn around, there is something we have to deal with. Why now? First, God didn't say we wouldn't have troubles. In fact he warned us of them in 2 Timothy 3:12. Note, Jesus knew this to be true and because of this anomaly, in his sermon on the mount he mentioned the poor in Spirit, meek, pure in heart and they who are persecuted for righteousness sake would be alright. You may say those people are located at the bottom of the barrel but actually they are close to the Lord's heart. Therefore, the next time you say why now, just know that Jesus is very near and guiding you to something so wonderful and amazing to behold.

God Is Good!

Have you notice that when something good happens in your life, such as a promotion or your favorite team win their game or you bowl a strike in bowling or you win a debate over an issue that's dear to your heart, you jump up in enthusiasm with fist balled up and make a upward motion with your hand yelling "Yes! God is good." I hear that statement often and only when something great goes on in your life. Wasn't God good before that incident?  Wasn't He good when you were laid off from your job? You end up getting a better job and making more money. Wasn't He good when your house caught on fire? Your insurance claim paid out more than you could imagine and got your house fixed or better, received enough money to get another house?   Wasn't He good when you were robbed? He replaced what was taken and gave you more than you previously had? Wasn’t He good when you had no idea how to pay a bill that popped up on the radar and someone came along and jus

Peace

What comes to mind when you reflect on peace? Is peace sitting on a tall mountain overlooking the city?  Is it perhaps sitting on a beach watching the waves wade on and off shore  while the wind blows through your hair? Is it being curled up on the couch reading a novel on a rainy day? Doesn't those things sound relaxing? That's because this is exactly what peace is--relaxing.  You are away from the kids, the job, and your family to relax. No one near to disturb your alone time.  However, what I just described to you is not peace.   This is nothing more than a distraction. You temporarily remove yourself from your problems.  When your alone time is over, your life restarts again. You chase the wind of life hoping for another distraction.  When I speak of peace, I'm talking about peace that transcends all understanding (Philippians 4:7). A peace that makes no sense. A heavenly peace. I'm talking about never having to cry again. Never having to feel pain again. Nev
