Freaking Out Vs Faith!

My voicemail symbol on my office phone blinked.  I proceeded to listening to my messages.

“Hello Ms. Swanson, this is the Westshore Elementary School Principal.  Please give me a call.”

My heart and mind raced with many things.  Did the boys have an altercation with another student or teacher?  Did someone get hurt? I looked at the clock.  I noticed it was right at 12 O’clock. Food allergy! Do they have their EpiPens? Perhaps they rushed the boys to the hospital. Which hospital?  I regained consciousness and focused on returning the principal's phone call. A pleasant woman answered. No time for niceties lady just tell me what happened.

“I’m returning the principal’s call,” I said hurriedly.

“This is Ms. Swanson.”

“She’s in a meeting, could I take a message?”

“Yes, have her to call Ms. Swanson.”

Meeting with whom?  My boys?  I was freaking out! I called again three seconds later.  It took that long to redial the number.
“Westshore Elementary,” the pleasant voice says again.

“Yes, this is Ms. Swanson . I am very sorry to bother you again, but is the principal out of the meeting.”

“No not yet, but I can put you through to her voicemail.” I didn’t want to leave a message on her voicemail, I wanted to know what was going on.

“No thanks, just have her to call me as soon as she returns to her office.”

It hit me! Who do I trust in all of this? Why was I getting all upset? I went into prayer, gave the matter over to God. This anxiety was too big for me at that moment. If I kept going this way, I would surly have a heart attack. I took a deep breathe, exhaled, and asked God to handle it.

“Without faith, it is impossible to please God: for He that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” (Hebrews 11:6).

Five minutes after I prayed, the phone rang. It was the Principal. She told me all was well.  She had to talk to my boys for having sibling rivalry at school.  “I’ll let you handle it at home. No other students were involved.”  I thanked her and after hanging up the phone, I thanked God for intervening.  Then I thanked the Holy Spirit for reminding me that putting my faith in God wins every time over freaking out! How often do you freak out when you get a phone call, visit or correspondence?  Do you worry about things that hasn't happened?  If so, next time, try prayer. Then believe that God heard it. He answers prayers.  You will be amazed at the inner peace you get thereafter. I did!

Understanding It Better By and By

Funny how life has a way of showing you what you’re made of.  When adversity hits, what you say you wouldn't do becomes easier to do.  When the rubber meets the road, yes! you do the unthinkable.  Let's say you have a house fire and on the second floor is your baby and mom. You can only save one, which would it be? I've heard many say they would grab the baby since mom has been around a long time. I couldn't say.  I'm not in that situation right now.  There's no way to know what to do until tragedy hits.  Some can handle atrocities, whereas; other have no clue how to maneuver suffering nor know why hardship occurs.  Stop trying to figure out why hardships happens--only the Father knows.  He won't  have you guessing long.      The underlining reason at the end of your trials gives away the mystery. Experiencing hardship isn't fun but you will come out with more insight than ever before....

Trust God

Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight ( NIV ). “Police, Police, a young man stole my bike.”   Minutes earlier the gentleman stops at the local store. Thirsty from the summer heat, he decides to get a drink.   Dismounting his bike, a kind young man greets him with a smile and offers to watch the bike. Grateful for the offer, the gentleman hands over the bike.   He enters the store. On returning, the bike and young man had vanished. The gentleman had a good heart, but he had misplaced trust.   Trust in the Lord is paramount (Hebrews 11:6). Life cannot be maneuver through our wisdom, we need the wisdom of the Savior.   He alone can handle our life cycle issues.   A fulfill and successful life with Jesus comes through obedience and surrender. The Lord then guides us into an everlasting peace despite difficulties and h...

Sabotage

It’s those times when you do the wrong thing for the right reason you get caught. Those moments catch you off guard. It almost happened to me. While going out the door, a thought came to me to take my gun. I figured after the boys’ baseball game, I would go to the gun range.   Here’s the deal, the baseball game was on base. The base has a strict rule about bring artillery on its grounds.   To ensure everyone adheres to the rule, security police checks cars as a preventive measures. Thus far, my car hasn’t been checked—yet. Satan whispered in my ear to take my gun with me. Security police won’t pull me over. Besides, it would take me 45 minutes to go back home to pick it up after the game. If I bring it, I can save gas and time. Now, just because that sound good in my head doesn’t mean the scene would play out that way. I felt like I was being setup. Someone else in the Bible was setup like this: Judas. What made him think betraying the Son of God was a good thing? It mu...
